How to Perform Volume Takeoff on an IFC file.

Select Cell for Measurement

To use the take-off tool to calculate the volume of an item, first focus on the item in your estimate. The volume calculation for the selected item will be displayed at the bottom of the screen.

Your volume measurement will be presented in the cell highlighted in yellow. You can also select other cells, such as width and height, to trace additional measurements if needed.

Enable the Volume Measurement Tool

Enable the trace toggle in the takeoff toolbar, if it is not already activated.

The trace toggle is always activated unless you click the select tool. This means you can move from cell to cell to perform takeoffs without needing to click the toggle each time.

Click the dropdown on the trace toggle and select “IFC Volume” if needed.

This will change the trace tool for all future takeoffs until you change it again.

Choose the desired line style (colour). You can change the line style later as you trace.

Measuring the Volume of an Object

To measure the volume of an object, follow these steps:

Selecting an Object: Click on any object to measure its volume. The entire object will be highlighted, and its volume will be calculated.

Adding Multiple Volumes: Click on additional objects to include their volumes in the total takeoff. The selected volumes will be summed up.

Deselecting a Face: To remove a face from the total area measurement, click again on the previously selected face. It will be deselected and subtracted from the total.
