How to Perform Counts on an IFC file.

Select Cell for Measurement

To use the take-off tool to calculate the quantity of an item, first focus on the item in your estimate. The quantity calculation for the selected item will be displayed at the bottom of the screen.

Your count will be presented in the cell highlighted in yellow. You can also select other cells, such as width and height, to trace additional measurements if needed.

Enable the Count Tool

Enable the trace toggle in the takeoff toolbar, if it is not already activated.

The trace toggle is always activated unless you click the select tool. This means you can move from cell to cell to perform takeoffs without needing to click the toggle each time.

Click the dropdown on the trace toggle and select “Count” if needed.

This will change the trace tool for all future takeoffs until you change it again.

Choose the desired line style (colour). You can change the line style later as you trace.

Counting objects in a model

To count objects, follow these steps:

Selecting an Object: Click on any object to count it. The entire object displays a symbol, and its quantity will be shown.

Adding Multiple Objects: Click on additional objects to include their quantity in the total takeoff. The selected counts will be summed up.

Deselecting a counted item: To remove a count from the total items, click again on the previously selected item. It will be deselected and subtracted from the total.
